In February, 2010 Gary underwent Deep Brain Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. This surgery has been VERY successful! Gary’s symptoms are much improved! There are still struggles and as the Parkinson’s progresses new solutions will have to be found. But, He is very thankful for the opportunity to have this life giving surgery.
Gary was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2004. As the disease has progressed he has desired to form a company which will help support his family in the future in case he becomes disabled. One objective of the company is to raise funds for adult stem cell and other types of research to find a cure for Parkinson’s. To that end, the company will donate 10% of proceeds to Parkinson’s research through the Thomas Hartman Foundation. This foundation has a policy of not funding embryonic stem cell research. Each year, 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. It is estimated that Parkinson’s disease affects between 1 and 1.5 million Americans. You can read about this foundation at:
